HOW BULKBILLING WORKS AT OUR PRACTICE
We’re committed to making healthcare accessible, which is why most doctor appointments at our practice are bulk billed.
In Order to be Bulk Billed, you simply have to
- Have a Valid Medicare Card
- A Medicare rebate must be applicable to the service we provide
To maximize your access to subsidized medications and other referred services, please provide us with a copy of your current Pensioner or Health Care Card (if you have got one).
Assignment of Benefit (AOB)
From July 1st 2026, for Bulk Billed consultations, you will have the option to receive your Assignment of Benefit form by SMS and sign the form digitally, instead of printing and signing the paper form.
Assignment of Benefit (AOB) is the patient agreement that allows bulk billing. AOB authorizes your Medicare benefit to be assigned to the doctor, so that you are not out of pocket for a bulk bill appointment.
Just like electronic prescribing, the move to digital makes managing assignment of benefit for both practices and patients a lot smoother.
Practices can enable electronic assignments of benefit in their software on July 1st.
- After your appointment, you will receive an SMS with a PIN-protected link to the AOB (Assignment of Benefit) form.
- You will read the electronic form and taps Accept to sign.
- A link to download the form is provided, just like you are offered a paper copy now.
The paper form will continue to be available to sign for the patients who prefer not to receive the AOB form by SMS.
So, from July 1st, you might be asked how you’d like to sign your Assignment of Benefit, paper or SMS, or you might have the option to sign your AOB from during booking. Your practice staff can help explain the process.
